A teenage boy died during football practice at a Bronx high school Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The 14-year-old victim went into cardiac arrest at around 1 p.m. at the Mount Saint Michael Academy in the Wakefield section of the borough during the pre-season practice, cops sources said.

Emergency responders rushed the boy, whose identity was not immediately released, to Montefiore Medical Center where he died, according to sources.

The all-boys Roman Catholic school on Murdock Avenue said it was “saddened to announce that a 14-year-old Mount freshman football player passed away following morning non-contact football practice.”

The victim was immediately treated on campus before paramedics rushed him to the hospital, the school said.

The boy’s cause of death is not yet known.

“Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends, as well as coaches, the team and our student-athletes. Out of respect for the family, the student’s name will not be released at this time,” the school said in a statement.

The school noted, “Grief counselors will be at the school to help students cope with the tragedy.”

Earlier this month, Josh Mileto, a 16-year-old football player from Long Island died after a log being used in a conditioning drill during off-season practice fell on his head.
