February 2018 Newsletter

Heart health is important for not only adults but children also! Laurie Malinowski, a pediatric nurse practitioner for Lurie Children's Preventive Cardiology Program in Chicago suggests families follow the Consortium to Lower Obesity in Chicago Children's education plan: 5-4-3-2-1-GO!

The 5-4-3-2-1-GO! plan includes daily recommendations to keep everyone's heart healthy:

5 servings of fruit and vegetables

4 servings of water

3 servings of low-fat dairy

2 hours or less of screen time

1 hour or more of physical activity

It all adds up to one healthy kid!

LATEST NEWS

We are so very grateful to our partner, Parent Heart Watch and their media team, who created this truly touching video to help further our efforts to raise awareness for sudden cardiac arrest: #1 killer of student athletes, #2 cause of death under 25, and leading cause of death on school campuses.

Check it out here!

What would you miss most... if you lost your child?

ALSO...

We are SO pleased with the success of the life-saving preventative heart screening event we, in collaboration with Wolfson Children's Hospital, were able to provide at Ware County High School on Saturday, February 3rd for Ware, Charlton, Brantley, and Pierce counties!

We are very appreciative of all the parents, students, and school staff who took the time to be part of this event, whether by participation in the screening or as a volunteer. The success of the event could not have been possible without you!

Be sure to visit our Facebook page for more event photos!
